Interface

The Omega Network Path simulator has two principal working areas: the side panel to the left and the simulation field to the right. To customize the simulation use the parameters avaible on the side panel. Meanwhile, the simulation will be carried out of the simulation field.

Side Panel

Select the dimension: AHere you will choose the size of the Omega Network that will be used in the path simulation. This value represent how many CPUs and Memories will be included in the network. For example, a dimension of 4 implies in 4 CPUs and 4 Memories in the network. The nertwork is dynamically generated each time these values are changed.

CPU and Mem:In these fields you can determine the origin and the destination of the data path to be simulated. If invalid parameters are entered a warning will show and the simulation will not continue. For exemple, this can happen if a nonexistenting CPU or Memory is chosen. If that happens review the parameters entered with the network dimension in mind.

Start: Here you start the simulation. When this button is clicked ( if the previous parameters are valid), two new buttons will show up: "Automatic" and "step by step".

Automatic: Click here if want to simulate the entire path instantly.

Step by step:Click here to see each step of the routing process.

Diagram

The diagram used to illustrate the Omega Network is composed of 4 main elements: the CPUs in blue to the left; the Switches in gray at the center; the Memories to the right and in blue; and the interconnects in black. During the simulation, the path will be highlighted in green. The way back (the memory response) will be highlighted in yellow. Restart the simulation simply by reselecting the network dimension or changing the CPU and Memory parameters.
